In-form Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has named John Obi Mikel and Didier Drogba as his football idols. The Super Eagles player mentioned Ivorian football icon Drogba and John Obi Mikel as his football idols while he was on William Troost-Ekong’s YouTube page.

John Mikel Obi and Didier Drogba played together for Chelsea for several years, winning a lot of titles including the Champions League title in 2012. Napoli striker Osimhen came into the Super Eagles squad around the time that John Obi Mikel was calling time on his career with the team.

Osimhen has enjoyed a lot of successes on the pitch in recent months especially since his big transfer to Napoli at the start of last season. He became the most expensive African-born player when Napoli paid around €70m to sign him from French champions Lille last summer. In the process, Osimhen also became the most expensive player in the history of Partenopei surpassing the €42m paid to sign Mexican attacker Hirving Lozano from PSV Eindhoven in the Dutch Eredivisie.
Napoli hitman Osimhen revealed that he looked up to John Mikel Obi and Didier Drogba in his quest to be successful as a professional footballer. He watched the two African football icons as they won titles, one after the other, at Chelsea.
Osimhen has been one of the standout players in the Italian Serie A this season and his form has led Napoli to the top of the table as far as the Italian top flight is concerned. He has nine goals in all competitions for Napoli this season with five of the goals coming in the Italian Serie A.He has been amongst the goals in the Europa League this season with four strikes to his name.
