StoryMIKEL OBI MADE NO IMPACT IN STOKE'S DEFEAT

Mikel Obi, the former Nigeria international featured for Stoke City as Senegal forward, Islamaar Saar scored his second goal at Watford. Mikel was in the action while Sarr scored the match-winner as Watford got a 3-2 comeback victory against Stoke City in the Championship game on Wednesday.

He was given his 10th league start since joining the Potters in the summer and was offered the chance to captain his side. Obi formed a four-man midfield alongside James McClean, Jordan Thompson, and Tyrese Campbell. The 33-year-old played his part in the match, but his effort wasn't enough and impressive to help the Potters avoid defeat as Sarr finished the game as the match hero.

Generally, Stoke commenced the match on a great note, opening the scoring in the second minute through Steven Fletcher. Tom Cleverley equalized for the Hornets moments before half-time with an excellent finish. Watford continued to fight for a home victory and was rewarded when Joao Pedro scored from the penalty spot at the game's 61st minute.

In the 79th minute, Mikel was cautioned for a late challenge; after that, Nick Powell leveled Watford's scoreline after two minutes. Sarr then scored the decisive goal that gave the Hornets victory in extra time when he fired a shot into the bottom corner after collecting a great assist from Ken Sema. The goal is the winger's second in the current season after opening his account in October against Wycombe Wanderers.
Mikel was on for the whole match and had a total of 41 touches on the ball while making two occasional tackles. The former Super Eagles captain and nation's cup winner has now played 11 times for Stoke city in this current season and will aspire to lead his team's return to winning ways in their subsequent games.
