StoryIs John Obi Mikel on his way out of Stamford Bridge?

For the first time in the 11 year long career of John Obi Mikel in Chelsea, the Nigerian player has not made a starting appearance in any of the 10 opening league matches of the season.

The 29 year old Nigerian midfielder completed his move to Chelsea on June of 2006 and ever since he joined the Premier League club, John Obi Mikel has been a regular starter.

Unfortunately for the veteran midfielder, it appears like his time in Stamford Bridge in reaching it’s end as he has made a single appearance in any of the 11 opening Premier League matches of the season.

According to recent reports that have been emerging, Antonio Conte has not even spoke to John Obi Mikel concerning a possible contract extension as the current contract of the Nigerian player expires at the end of June of 2017.

When Antonio Conte was asked about his current situation with John Obi Mikel, the Italian manager replied by saying that he is currently focused on the Premier League as Antonio Conte said:

"Have I spoken to him now? No, but I repeat, now it's important to be focused on the championship in this period. We are in November. It's important to be focused on the pitch. Then, we can focus on other situations in time. It's normal in every squad, there are players who are towards the end of their contract, and they and the club together take a decision on their futures. Mikel is working very well now. In the past he's sometimes had some injuries. But now he's working very hard, and I'm pleased with his work-rate."

John Obi Mikel has helped Chelsea in winning numerous titles including 2 Premier League and 1 UEFA Champions League pieces of silverware but it seems like his time at the English club is nearing it’s end as Antonio Conte just doesn’t have the Nigerian player in his plans.
