StoryFrank Lampard delivers worrying injury update on Chelsea attacker

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has issued a worrying injury update on Christian Pulisic. The USA international sustained a hamstring injury during the warm-up before the Burnley game last weekend, but he was fancied to make his comeback against Sheffield United. However, Lampard has now revealed that the playmaker has yet to overcome his hamstring concern and he won’t feature in the Blues’ final game before the international break, he told via Chelseafc.com: "Not fit to play, still suffering with his hamstring. He's not training at the moment. He trained at a low level in midweek and wasn't comfortable. We have to keep looking for the right solution."

Pulisic suffered multiple muscular concerns during the previous campaign, but he still managed to register 11 goals and 10 assists from 34 appearances in all competitions. Due to a hamstring problem, his start to the current season was delayed and he has managed only five appearances for the Blues to date.

The latest setback should frustrate Pulisic, who now has plenty of competition for a starting spot. The likes of Mason Mount, Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner have all impressed from the wide attacking positions and Pulisic may not have an easy return to the starting lineup when he makes his comeback from the latest muscular concern.
Chelsea have picked up momentum over the past few weeks and they are currently on a three-match winning run across all competitions. Elsewhere, they have also vastly improved their defensive record and have picked up clean sheets in five successive games. Hence, Lampard’s side does not have much concern over the outlook of the team and he will be hoping that his team can beat the Blades at Stamford Bridge before the international break begins. The Blues are currently sixth on the table with 12 points on the board.
